Privacy Policy
EV Chargify · Effective 19 July 2026
EV Chargify helps electric-vehicle drivers find available chargers, get notified when a charger frees up, and navigate to it. This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and the choices you have. Short version: we collect the minimum needed to run these features, we don't sell data, and you can delete everything.
Data we collect and why
- Account — email address (and name/avatar if you sign in with Google), used to sign you in and sync your data across devices. Provided by Firebase Authentication. Signing in is optional for browsing chargers.
- Location — your device's precise location, used only while the app is in use (plus during an active navigation session) to show nearby chargers, sort results by distance, and provide turn-by-turn guidance. Location is not collected in the background and is never stored on our servers as a history.
- Watchlist — the chargers you choose to watch, stored with your account so our server can check their availability and notify you.
- Push token — a Firebase Cloud Messaging token for delivering availability and charging notifications to your device.
- Community reports — problem reports you submit about a charger (category and optional note). Reports are shown to other users without your name and are automatically deleted after 14 days.
- Connected car (optional) — if you connect your vehicle through Smartcar, we access battery level, range, charging state and battery capacity to show charge estimates and send a "fully charged" notification. You grant this access explicitly in the Smartcar consent flow and can revoke it at any time in the app (Disconnect) or via your vehicle account.
- Usage & diagnostics — anonymous analytics events and crash reports (Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics) used to fix bugs and improve the app.
- Purchases — subscriptions are processed by Google Play; we receive entitlement status (not payment details) via RevenueCat.
AI features
Search queries you type or speak may be processed by Google's Gemini model (via Firebase AI Logic) to understand intent, and community reports may be summarized by the same service. These requests contain the query or report text and nearby charger context — never your identity.
Service providers
We use: Google Firebase (authentication, database, notifications, analytics, crash reporting, AI), Mapbox (maps, navigation, geocoding), Open Charge Map (charger data), Google Street View (charger photos), Smartcar (optional vehicle connection), RevenueCat and Google Play (subscriptions). Each receives only what its function requires.
Data retention and deletion
- Community reports auto-delete after 14 days.
- Charger availability snapshots contain no personal data.
- Delete account in the app's profile removes your account and all synced data (watchlist, tokens, vehicle link) permanently from our systems.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR in the EU), you can request access, correction, export or deletion of your data. The in-app deletion covers all of it; for anything else, contact us.
Children
EV Chargify is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We'll update this page when the policy changes and note the new effective date above.
